Upendra to don director’s hat again

When Real Star Upendra made a comeback to direction after a decade-long hiatus with the 2010 film Super, his fans were thrilled. Naturally, they have also been eagerly looking forward to his next directorial venture since. And the superstar has confirmed that he will announce his next project on his birthday, September 18.

"Currently, I'm busy finishing work for Kalpana and Topiwala. I'm simultaneously working on the script for my directorial outing. It is still too early to reveal the title and other details, so I will make the announcement on my birthday," says Upendra.

There has been speculation if this film will be a sequel to the actor-director's hit film Upendra or if it will be a political satire like his last, Super. Upendra, though, chooses not to comment.

Interestingly, a year ago, he announced that he was looking at directing Kiccha Sudeep in a film, but that project did not take off and Uppi has since been busy with his acting commitments.

The timing of the announcement, though, is interesting, given that Upendra was reported to start work on Omprakash Rao's film Trivikrama, which was later called Trimurthi. That project has been shelved, giving Upendra the time to plan a directorial.

" Trivikrama or Trimurthi, as it was to be called, was announced in the media too early, even before the director and I had agreed upon the script. We had creative differences over the story, which had us parting ways," he says.

Upendra adds that he is game to work with Om in the future if he has a convincing script. "Omprakash is a talented director and I'm sure we will work together in the near future."
