Real Star Upendra starrer God Father directed by cinemetographer turned director Sriram and produced by K.Manju had its audio release in a grand fashion on Saturday evening at Chancery Hotel in Bangalore. The special attraction of the audio release function was undoubtedly The Mozart of Madras and two times Oscar Award winner A.R. Rehman who charmed many people of the Kannada film industry who knew him for many yars when the present Music Maestro was working for Kannada films as a music arranger.
Normally it will be the hero who will remain the centre of attraction for even the music release functions, but for once A.R.Rehman received all the attention though the film’s hero Real Star Upendra performing in three roles in the film. The film is directed Sriram who has worked in many Bollywood films like Wanted as a cinemetographer. The film’s audio release function that was organised on Saturday evening went on with the dignatories on the dias that included Kannada film industry’s legendary actor Ambareesh and his wife Ms. Sumaltha Ambareesh speaking highly on the achievements of A.R.Rehman who had earlier as a music arranger worked in many Kannada films in Chamundeshwari and Sanketh studios in Bengaluru. Upendra, the film’s director Sriram, the film’s producer K.Manju and others were also present on the dias. The special feature of the function was the presence of Kannada film industry’s top music directors and lyricists like Hamsalekha, V.Manohar, Kaviraj who were felicitated. Ms. Bharathi Vishnuvardhan wife of Late Dr. Vishnuvardhan who was a mentor of producer K.Manju in the industry along with Ms Priyanka Upendra, Ramesh Arvind, Kicha Sudeep and Dwarakish were also the chief guests at the function. Samartha Ventures Prasad who has purchased the audio rights of the film through his audio company Ashwini Audio and has purchased the rights of the film through his company Samartha Ventures was also present during the function. Kannada film Producers Association President Munirathna who had produced Upendra’s recently released film “Kataari Veera Sura Sundaraangi’ and top line producer Rockline Venkatesh were also present. Music Maestro went on the nostalgic trip to remember the days he had worked in many Kannada films during the recording of songs and re-recording. “I had worked with music directors like Hamsalekha, Vijaya Bhaskar and Vijaya Anand and in films producer and director Dwarakish. Rehman said that he had very fond memories of Bengaluru and the great people connected to the film industry. “I am glad to come back to the Kannada film industry to work as a music director and thank director Sriram, Upendra and K.Manju for it’ said Rehman.
Upendra remembered an incident when he had really wanted to use Rehman as the music director for one of the films directed by him. “When I was about to start my film “Upendra’ I really wanted to get Rehman sir. I had even contacted director Manirathnam to speak to Rehman in this regard. But REhman sir was very busy then and we were not able to work together. But I was doubtful whether he would accept this offer to work as a music director in this film as he was busy working in many prestigious international projects and also in many hugely budgeted Indian films. But I am happy that Rehman has worked for this film and has given some wonderful tunes for the film’ said Upendra.
