Ragini in Uppis next Director Om Prakash Raos film is now called Trimurthi

When Om Prakash Rao announced his new film with Real Star Upendra,there was a lot of speculation about who would play his romantic interest in the film.While names like Taapsee Pannu and even Deeksha Seth were bandied about,busy schedules prevented both of them from making a foray into Sandalwood.
The role,we hear,has now come to Ragini Dwivedi.Says Om Prakash,I have just done Shiva with Ragini and shes done a fantastic job in it.So it would be great to work with her again.Ragini has expressed interest in the role.We should be able to confirm the same in a day or two.We have also changed the title of the film and are going with the new name Trimurthi. And Ragini,who is on a 10-day break after a hectic schedule for her Ragini IPS says that she will do the film,as it would be her second with Uppi after Aarakshaka and the second with the director after the upcoming Shiva.There are a couple of projects that I have lined up after Ragini IPS.I am just figuring out my dates.I have not formally signed up for the film,but I should soon, says the actor

ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಿತ್ರರಂಗದ ಹಲವು ಪ್ರಥಮಗಳಿಗೆ, ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟತೆಗಳಿಗೆ, ವಿಚಿತ್ರಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಾರಣ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಉಪೇಂದ್ರ. ಇದರಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡನೇ ಮಾತೇ ಇಲ್ಲ. ಹಾಗೆಂದು ಅವರು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿರುವ ರಿಮೇಕ್ ಪಾಲಿಸಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದೇ? ಕೊಂಚ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮುಂದೆ ನೋಡಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತದೆ, ಅಲ್ಲವೇ? ಆದರೆ ಉಪ್ಪಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ಹಿಂದೆ ಮುಂದೆ ನೋಡಿಲ್ಲ, ನಾನು ರಿಮೇಕ್ ಪಾರ್ಟಿ ಅಲ್ವೇ ಅಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಸಾರಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ರಿಯಲ್ ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಎಂದೇ ಅಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕರೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಉಪ್ಪಿ ನಾಯಕನಾಗಿರುವ 'ಗಾಡ್‌ಫಾದರ್' ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲೇ (ಜುಲೈ 27) ಇಂತಹದ್ದೊಂದು ಮಾತು ಹೊರ ಬಿದ್ದಿದೆ.

"ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮುಂದಿನ ಚಿತ್ರವೂ ತಮಿಳಿನ ರಿಮೇಕ್ ಅಲ್ಲವೇ?" ಎಂದಷ್ಟೇ 'ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮಿರರ್' ಪ್ರಶ್ನಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಉಪೇಂದ್ರ ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಉತ್ತರ ಏನು ಗೊತ್ತಾ? ಇಲ್ಲಿದೆ ಓದಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ:

"ಬೆನ್ನು ಬೆನ್ನಿಗೆ ರಿಮೇಕ್ ಚಿತ್ರಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ನಟಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವಂತೆ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಆದರೆ ಅದೇ ನಿಜವಲ್ಲ. ತಮಿಳಿನ 'ಕಾಂಚನ' ಕಥೆ ತುಂಬಾ ಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅದರ ರಿಮೇಕ್ 'ಕಲ್ಪನಾ'ದಲ್ಲಿ ನಟಿಸಲು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡೆ. ಹಾಗೆಂದು ನಾನು ರಿಮೇಕ್ ಕಡೆಯಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದರ್ಥವಲ್ಲ. ವಿಭಿನ್ನ ಕಥೆಗಳಿಂದಷ್ಟೇ ನಾನು ರಿಮೇಕ್ ಆಫರುಗಳನ್ನು ಒಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ"

Upendra's Godfather earns Rs 4.60 cr in first week

Upendra's last week release Godfather has ended the first week on a good note. The movie has managed to approximately collect Rs 4.60 crore in the first week.

In the opening weekend, Godfather had raked in approximately Rs 3 crore by getting an average of 85% occupancy in most of the theatres on first week. In the next four days (weekdays), it has collected close to Rs 1.60 crore.

Producer K Manju said, "Godfather has somewhere earned around Rs 4.60 crore. Even though it is not a mass film, it has managed to pull the audience of all age groups. The first week collection was good and we hope the business will be good in the second week too."

The per day collection of Godfather from Monday-Thursday (July 30-Aug 2) stands at Rs 40 lakhs and the weekend collection is expected to be increased like the last weekend, as it is getting good feedback from the audience.

Godfather had collected a little more than Rs 1 crore on the release day but its collection dropped down on the next day, as it collected approximately Rs 90 lakhs. However, the movie witnessed wonderful collection on Sunday by raking in above Rs 1.05 crore.

I took up the role as a challenge: Upendra

In his latest film 'Godfather', Real Star Upendra has not one, not two, but three different roles. And while the actor has been waxing eloquent about how varied the characters were, the most challenging, according to Uppi was getting the body language and other nuances of a rather effeminate trained bharatanatyam dancer right. And if industry reports are to be believed, the character has become a big hit among audiences. In fact, the buzz is that one of the highlights of the film is the actor's bharatanatyam dance performance to an AR Rahman number, 'Nannede Shrutiyolage Olavina Naadavide Gelati', and that audiences are comparing it to the late Soundarya's dance recital as 'Nagavali' in 'Apthamitra'. And Uppi is elated.

"I took over a month to master the nuances of the dance form, but I am happy that my effort in learning the expressions of a dancer has been appreciated. It is an honour that my performance is being compared to that of Soundarya in 'Apthamitra'," says Uppi.

Being a classical dancer, the character is also effeminate, which for the normally macho Upendra was a challenge. And he gladly took it up. "I had a master who came home and taught me bharatanatyam for a month. I got all the expressions and body language right only because of him," says Upendra.

Meanwhile, according to the film's distributor N Prasad, 'Godfather' has been doing brisk business at the BO. "The film's collection has proven that we have got back our audience. I am glad to see people coming to theatres and watching the movie. Though, the film is a family entertainer, children are curious to know how Uppi acted in three get ups in one movie and they are excited seeing him do bharatanatyam," he says.
